Roberto Perez and a group of 18 other employees worked under a government contract that involved the painting of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The workers approached KSC because they believed that they were not paid the proper wage under Maryland’s prevailing wage law. KSC attorneys F.J. Collins and Chris Ryon filed a class action complaint for wages with the Commissioner of Labor and Industry that alleged that the workers were misclassified as laborers and not paid the proper “bridge painter” rate. The case settled shortly before the scheduled hearing. As part of the settlement, the contractor agreed to pay a total of $138,392.64 to the 19 workers.
